Some scooters often question the information about the year of manufacture of the scooter, which is indicated in the vehicle passport (PTS). This issue is especially acute for those who want to buy a new scooter at the beginning of the new season in dealerships. Such centers, according to the scooters, have an agreement with the customs services. For scooters that were not sold last season, dealers receive new PTSs from customs, where the new year of release is indicated. Whether this is true or not is still a mystery.
Instructions
Step 1
Check the serial number. It is indicated in the front part of the TCP in the line “Identification number (VIN). This number (VIN) must consist of 17 characters (Arabic numbers or letters), which are conventionally divided into three parts: an index part, a descriptive part and the manufacturer's world index.
Step 2
The first three characters are the number (VIN) and are the world manufacturer index (WMI), it can be either letters or numbers in combination with letters. The World Manufacturer Index defines the geographic area, the scooter manufacturer's code and the state code. The VIN descriptive part (VDS) must have six characters and designate the vehicle model in accordance with the specific documentation of the manufacturer. The VIN Indicator Part (VIS) must be eight characters long. The first four are numbers and letters, the other four are numbers only. The index part of the VIN - index must contain information about the serial number of the vehicle, as well as the year of manufacture that the scooter receives when it leaves the assembly line of the plant.
Step 3
The first characters of the leading part of the identification number indicate the year of manufacture of this vehicle (scooter): the eighth character from the end or the tenth from the beginning. For example: VIN: WVWZZZ1KZBW321177. The indicated symbol can be deciphered according to the table (Appendix No. 2 to the "Regulations on passports of vehicles and chassis of vehicles" at: https://base.consultant.ru/cons/cgi/online.cgi?req=doc;base=LAW; n = 112220). In the given example WVWZZZ1KZBW321177 character "B" denotes the year of manufacture 2011.
Step 4
It should be noted that many vehicle manufacturers neglect the generally accepted standards for assigning VIN numbers. For example, US manufacturers and the largest concern FORD indicate the year of manufacture of the vehicle in the place of the eleventh character in the VIN number.
