The cabin filter in Ford Focus is designed to clean the air inside the car from dust, small debris and various kinds of contaminants. The filter must be changed every 15,000 kilometers or once a year.
Instructions
Step 1
Stock up on the necessary tools: a small ratchet, which has heads for 7 and 10, a set of flexible adapters and extensions, a screwdriver. Find directly the cabin filter itself, which is usually located on the right side of the Ford Focus, near the gas pedal.
Step 2
Carefully disconnect the three nuts that secure the gas pedal, do this using a head 10. Remember that it is better not to disconnect the connector from the gas pedal, because according to the manufacturer's recommendations, this connector must be disconnected no more than ten times, after which it follows replace the electronic unit of the gas pedal. This replacement is quite expensive, and it is better to carry it out by a specialist.
Step 3
Carefully unscrew the three self-tapping screws that secure the cabin filter cover to the car body. Remove the cover and set it aside. Carefully remove the filter, which may be dirty. Be sure to pay attention to the end of the filter, where the arrow is located, remember its direction, which will be useful to you when further installing a new device.
Step 4
Take a new filter and replace the old one. If it is difficult to replace it, and it simply does not fit into the right place, then carefully make cuts around the perimeter of the filter. After that, carefully roll it up in an arc or make an accordion, and then shove it. Make sure it snaps into place and straightens out.
Step 5
After that, close the filter with a lid and secure it by screwing in three self-tapping screws. If the distant screw does not give in, then discard it, nothing terrible will happen, the structure will hold steadily on the two remaining ones. Reinstall the accelerator pedal and check the operability of all components that were used during the installation of the filter.
