The design of the gearbox for Ford Focus 2 does not provide for oil changes throughout the entire service life of the vehicle. But sometimes situations arise when such a procedure must be performed. What do you need to know in order to independently perform this work?

Instructions

Step 1

It is necessary to drain the oil until it has completely cooled down and has good fluidity. Therefore, before starting the action, first take a ride in the car for at least twenty minutes.

Step 2

Prepare the required oil. Use the one recommended by the manufacturer according to the Ford specification. Only if it is not available, use Castrol or Mobil gear oils. If the vehicle is used in rather low temperatures, change the factory oil to SAE 75W.

Step 3

Remove the engine splash shield and shift cover. To prevent the drained oil from spreading inside, also remove the gearshift cover. To do this, unscrew the casing mounting bolts and remove it. If there is a special device for collecting oil, for example, a curly funnel, then the gearshift cover can be left on.

Step 4

Place a container under the hole and unscrew the oil drain plug. Drain the oil into a prepared container. Let the oil drain completely, leave the plug open for 15 minutes. Reinstall the plug.

Step 5

Look at the magnet on the oil drain plug. If you find a large amount of metal particles, then carefully check the transmission and, if necessary, repair it. Remove all particles and dirt from the magnet.

Step 6

Thoroughly wipe up any oil spills and reinstall the shift cover.

Step 7

Unscrew the oil filler plug. Fill the transmission with oil. Pour in a small stream until it starts to flow out of the hole. The oil rate is equal to the lower edge of this hole.

Step 8

Wipe off any excess with a rag and tighten the plug. Install the engine cowl cover and mudguard.
