Hyundai Getz, like any other car, needs engine lubrication. But it is important to remember that engine oil has a certain service life and needs to be replaced periodically in order to avoid loss of useful performance properties.
Hyundai Getz is a compact, maneuverable, unpretentious and reliable car that enjoys well-deserved love and popularity among motorists.
But in order for it to serve for a long time and without failure, the car must undergo maintenance every 15,000 km, which necessarily includes the replacement of engine oil.
If for some reason it is impossible to change the oil in the car at specialized service stations, then it is not recommended to postpone this procedure "for later"; if you have the necessary consumables, you can change the oil yourself.
All the Goetz owner will need is a properly selected engine oil, an oil filter, a set of wrenches and, possibly, a jack, if there is no garage with a viewing hole or overpass.
Oil selection and consumption
Hyundai Getz car manufacturers recommend the use of multigrade oil, class SG or SH according to the classification of the American Petroleum Institute. The viscosity grade of the oil will depend on the expected ambient temperature, which is different for all regions of the Russian Federation.
The consumption of the oil to be replaced will depend on the chosen replacement scheme and the volume of the car's engine:
- without replacing the oil filter, the oil consumption will be 2.8-3.0 liters;
- with the replacement of the oil filter, the oil consumption will be 3, 3-3, 8 liters.
When choosing a filter, preference should be given to original parts, rather than cheaper analogs: original filters most closely meet the needs of both the engine and the properties of the oil.
Oil change technology
The oil change on the Goetz is carried out with a pre-warmed engine - care must be taken when draining the oil, because it's very hot!
After turning off the engine and waiting for a while until the oil drains into the sump, you can start replacing: if there is no inspection hole or overpass available, the right front part of the car must be raised with a jack.
Next, you need to remove the oil filler cap, unscrew the nut and the oil pan drain plug, the oil filter. The used oil should be almost completely drained into a previously prepared container.
To remove the filter, you may need a special remover; it is convenient to unscrew the drain plug using a 17 spanner wrench.
Reassembly
After draining the used oil, a new filter is installed, the nut is tightened. It is advisable to install a special gasket made of thin metal under the drain plug in the pan - it prevents oil from leaking and prevents the thread from breaking when unscrewing.
After these manipulations, fresh oil is poured into the engine in parts - at intervals of 5-10 minutes, so that both the filter and the sump are filled. The oil level and the need for top-up are determined using a special dipstick.
