Changing the oil and oil filter on a Ford Focus is not very different from servicing other brands of cars, but it still has its own nuances. All work can be done within an hour without any difficulties.

Changing the oil and oil filter on a Ford Focus is done once a year or more often, every 20 thousand kilometers. This vehicle uses 5W30 viscosity oil. The choice can be made according to the catalog number - 14665A. Oil filter numbers may vary depending on engine displacement. On motors with a volume of 1, 4 and 1, 6 liters, a filter with the number 1455760 should be installed, and for more powerful ones - 1595247.

Preparation for work

To carry out the work, you will need a new filter, five liters of oil, a screwdriver with a long sting, a wrench or socket for 13 and a container for draining the used oil. It will not be superfluous to stock up on clean rags.

Place the machine on a pit or overpass, open the hood and remove the engine cover. During preparation, the engine should be kept running so that it has time to warm up well. Wipe off accumulated dirt and dust around the filler neck, then remove the plug.

Replacing the filter and oil

Further work will be carried out under the bottom of the car. With a 13 key, you need to rip off the drain plug and slowly unscrew it, keeping a container ready for draining the mining. Care should be taken as the escaping oil will be quite hot. Draining takes place within five minutes, after which you can additionally turn the starter several times, keeping the clutch depressed.

The oil filter is located under the hood of the vehicle. Not every motorist has a special puller with a vacuum suction cup. If not, the filter can always be pierced through with a screwdriver and unscrewed counterclockwise. Before installing a new filter, you will need to lubricate the threads with clean oil. The filter should be screwed in until it touches the gasket of the car body, then the barrel should be tightened by 3, 4 turns.

New oil can be added immediately after changing the filter. After 3, 5 liters have been poured in, you need to turn the ignition key. In this case, the low oil pressure warning lamp should light up for a few seconds and go out. The oil level must be monitored as you top up. To do this, use a dipstick, periodically wiping it with a dry cloth. When the oil reaches the desired level, the engine will need to be started and held at idle speed for 5-7 minutes so that the oil is evenly distributed over the Ford Focus lubrication system. While the engine is running, you can clean up the work area and pour the drained oil into an empty canister.
