The engine oil in the Focus engine should be changed once a year. But it is better to focus on a mileage of 20 thousand km. When operating the machine in a large city or in a very dusty area, the oil and filter must be changed twice as often - every 10,000 km.
Necessary
Recommended oil, oil filter, clean rag, 5 liter container for drained oil, 13 wrench, and a special wrench for unscrewing the oil filter
Instructions
Step 1
Unscrew the oil filler cap.
Step 2
Clean the engine oil sump drain plug with a wire brush, and then a rag.
Step 3
Unscrew the drain plug after placing a container for the drained oil.
Step 4
Drain the oil.
Step 5
Replace the stopper.
Step 6
Remove the oil filter.
Step 7
If the O-ring of the new filter is not treated with grease or talcum powder, lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil and screw the filter back 3/4 of a turn by hand.
Step 8
Refill with new oil.
Step 9
Replace the filler cap.
Step 10
Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
The oil pressure drop warning light should go out 2-3 seconds after the engine is started.
While the engine is running, check for oil leaks from under the oil filter and filler plug.
Stop the engine, check the oil level and top up if necessary.
Retighten plug and filter.
