To use the ZAZ-966/968 stove as an additional autonomous heater for a car or garage, in order to save money, it should be converted to work on gas fuel. The benefits of such a rework are obvious, especially for those who are familiar with its gluttony. The very design of the stove also needs to be slightly modified.
It is necessary
- - stove from ZAZ-966 or ZAZ-968;
- - spare parts for the stove;
- - drill with 1 mm drill;
- - soldering iron;
- - thermostat;
- - car switch;
- - diode 10 A;
- - wires;
- - spark plug;
- - accessories for contactless ignition system
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, choose a place to install the stove and gas cylinder. It is advisable to mount the heater with a quick-detachable one, on clamping clamps. There is only one requirement for the installation site of the gas cylinder - it must be warm.
Step 2
Disassemble the stove completely, clean it of soot, carbon deposits and deposits. Flush and purge all hoses and lines. Re-sort the electric motor, clean and lubricate. Reamer the carburetor jet to a diameter of 1 mm. Plug the non-return valve and solder it. For the carburetor, make a new gasket to cover the upper bypass to the jet. Check the serviceability of the solenoid valve and replace it in case of malfunction. Any other suitable 12 V solenoid valve can be used as a new one.
Step 3
Assemble the electrical part with the new thermostat, diode and switch in a separate housing, for example, from under the junction box. Fix the resulting stove control panel in any place convenient for you. To connect it to the stove, use a three-core wire with a cross-section of each core of at least 1.5 sq. Mm.
Step 4
Replace the original glow plug with an automotive spark plug with a pre-cut thread. Use a copper o-ring to seal the new plug in the seat. Make a new ignition system using modern components. From any vehicle with a contactless ignition, take a switch, a coil, a Hall sensor, and a set of jumper wires. Carry out the connection in the same way as the glow plug was connected.
Step 5
When connecting the stove to a car battery in the circuit, turn on the 10 A fuse, connect the stove directly to the battery so that you can warm up with the ignition off. The diode installed in the control unit must have a nominal value of 10 A and turn off the solenoid valve (gas supply) simultaneously with turning off the power supply to the thermostat. Adjust the adjusting screw on the thermostat housing to correct its operation according to your feelings.
Step 6
The stove converted in this way gets rid of its main shortcomings - it becomes easy to operate, quickly starts up and quickly warms up the interior of the car or the room, consumes cheap gas and does not discharge the battery at startup. Thanks to the thermostat, it can maintain a certain air temperature, turning off and on as needed.
