To find out which battery you need to buy instead of the old one, open the hood of your car and carefully examine the sticker on the battery. You need to find out the capacity of the installed battery, which is expressed in ampere-hours and is designated Ah.
Step 2
In addition to the battery capacity, you will also need its dimensions, because batteries of the same capacity can vary significantly from manufacturer to manufacturer. Measure the length, width and height of the battery.
Step 3
Since the battery power leads are of limited length, remember the location of the positive and negative contacts.
Step 4
Now you can go to a car store and buy a battery that fully meets all the parameters of the old battery. Be especially careful because if you install a battery with a larger capacity in your car, you run the risk of significantly reducing the battery life, due to the fact that the generator power will not be enough for a full charge. If you buy a battery of a larger size or inappropriate contact arrangement, you simply cannot install such a battery in a car.
Step 5
After purchasing a new battery, you can proceed with installation immediately. To do this, open the hood, use a wrench to remove the terminals from the battery and unscrew the mount that holds the battery to the car body. Take out the old battery, and install a new one in its place, strictly observing the polarity. Tighten the mount and terminals.
