Necessary

  • - Key for 10,
  • - latex gloves,
  • - spanner key 13,
  • - extension cord,
  • - crank.

Instructions

Step 1

Before disconnecting the tips from the battery terminals, you need to make sure that the key is in the "ACC" position in the ignition switch. Better yet, remove the key from the ignition to prevent problems and damage to electronic equipment.

Step 2

After that, you need to inspect the battery and make sure that there is no damage to the case. If you notice damage to the battery, be sure to wear rubber gloves to avoid chemical damage and corroded hands from electrolyte exposure.

Step 3

Take an open-end wrench for 10 and unscrew the battery terminal with the "-" sign. Then remove the red protective cover from the positive terminal and loosen the + terminal.

Step 4

On most vehicles, the battery is secured with a special plate at the bottom, so it will need to be unscrewed. To do this, you need a 13 spanner wrench with a crank and extension. Unscrew the bolts all the way and remove the plate. In fact, the stuck plate does not affect the stability of the battery at all, which is why most car owners remove this plate beforehand.

Step 5

Now you need to carefully remove the old battery. Take a fine emery cloth and run it over all the terminals in order to remove all traces of oxidation and get good contact with the new battery.

Step 6

It remains only to install a new battery and connect all the parts in the reverse order. Please note that it is imperative to follow the order of connecting the wires. First, connect the wire to the positive terminal and then to the negative terminal. If you do the opposite, you can get a malfunction of the car's electrical system.
