Both car service workers and ordinary car enthusiasts are often faced with damage to the windshield, rear or side windows. In some cases, this damage is so severe that it becomes necessary to remove the glass and replace it with a new one. This process is considered technologically difficult - glass dismantling often takes a lot of time and requires a lot of effort.

In any case, one person cannot remove the glass - even experienced craftsmen in a car service remove the windshield or rear window with the help of assistants. If you plan to shoot glass of this size at home, you also cannot do without an assistant. The size of the side glass allows you to remove it without the help of an assistant, but the process of dismantling it also has the same nuances as dismantling the windshield or rear glass.

  1. When removing glass, first of all be guided by its condition, and also take into account the method of installing new glass, which will be used in the future. If the old glass is suitable for removing the matrix for making a replacement, it must be removed entirely, taking care not to damage it. To do this, the glass must be released from the rubber seal or carefully cut out of the sealant that is applied to the line of the side posts. Having thus prepared the upper and then the lower edge, the glass should be squeezed out from the inside with precisely calculated movements.
  2. Sometimes the glass is so damaged that it can no longer be used for copying. In this case, the task of the master, first of all, is the best possible cleaning of the sealant in the places of contact of the glass. It is necessary to carefully remove from there the remnants of the sealant and glue, as well as the remaining fragments. It is easiest to carry out such work with special chisels or scrapers, which should not be excessively rigid.
  3. If you are forced to dismantle a car's windshield, rear or front window at home, you may often not have special tools on hand. In this case, you can use a regular braided copper string (for example, 3, 4 or 5 strings from a guitar) to neatly remove the car glass. With the help of this string, it will be possible to neatly cut silicone - all glasses, especially in foreign-made machines, are usually planted on silicone sealant or glue. To do this, you need to take an ordinary awl and make a hole in one of the corner parts of the glass seat. Then a string is launched there: by passing it through and processing it sequentially all the glass around the perimeter, you can carefully remove the silicone and remove the glass.

Remember that this method of dismantling requires the presence of at least two people. This method is ideal for situations where it is necessary to remove heavily damaged, for example, almost shattered glass - and it will be removed in one piece, and not crumbled into tiny fragments.
