Intake and exhaust manifolds are used to get fuel into the engine and exhaust gases into the exhaust pipe. One of the frequently failing places in this node is the gasket. Its integrity should be periodically checked visually and replaced in case of a defect. This will require the removal of the exhaust manifold.

Necessary

  • - key for 10 and 13;
  • - socket head 13.

Instructions

Step 1

Place the vehicle on an overpass, lift or viewing pit. Secure the wheels with stops. Drain the coolant from the cooled engine. Remove the air filter housing from the carburetor by unscrewing three upper nuts and four lower nuts in sequence with a 10 wrench.

Step 2

Take a 6 wrench or a curly screwdriver and loosen the hose clamp, which serves to drain the coolant from the outlet manifold. Then take it off. Loosen the clamp holding the vacuum brake booster hose in the same way. Dismantle it.

Step 3

Take the socket on 13 and unscrew the nut securing the "minus" wire and remove it. With her, unscrew the nut that secures the eyelet and remove it.

Step 4

Remove the hose from the warm air intake. Loosen the lower nut securing the air intake with a 13 wrench. Unscrew the top nut of its fastening. Using a 13 socket head, unscrew the five nuts that secure the exhaust and intake manifolds, with which they are attached to the cylinder head.

Step 5

Remove the intake manifold. Take with a 13 key and unscrew the two nuts that secure the starter heat shield to it and remove the shield. Take the keys for 10 and unscrew the shield mounting bolt, which is attached to the bracket for the right engine support. Disconnect the bracket that secures the front pipe to the transmission. Disconnect the front pipe from the exhaust manifold.

Step 6

Disconnect the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head by unscrewing the two mounting nuts with a 13 wrench. Using pliers, bend the ear of the bracket for the coolant outlet pipe from the heater radiator from the manifold stud

Step 7

Remove the exhaust manifold. Install the collector in the reverse order. Before doing this, apply a thin layer of sealant to the gaskets of the intake manifold in the places of the holes for the cooling system.
