UAZ Patriot is the most voracious of mass-produced domestic cars. This is due to the relatively large motor, heavy construction and all-wheel drive. An SUV body that lacks aerodynamics also does not contribute to fuel efficiency. But still, fuel consumption can be reduced.

Step 1
Do not accelerate to high speeds unless absolutely necessary. The force of resistance to the incoming air flow depends on the square of the speed and the drag coefficient. Therefore, every 10 km / h is solidly added to the average consumption.
Step 2
For some improvement in the aerodynamics of the car, do not lower the side windows, remove the additional rack from the roof, wind deflectors from the hood and doors and other elements of the homemade body kit. All of the above helps to save up to 30% of fuel at speeds of about 100 km / h.
Step 3
Get in the habit of not warming up the engine. In the warm-up mode, more fuel is supplied to the combustion chambers than to a warm engine. Therefore, this should be done only in severe frosts and no longer than a few minutes. If you start driving on a cold engine, do not raise the speed above 2500 rpm for the first time.
Step 4
Try to avoid off-road and poor road surfaces. Of course, they are not scary for the Patriot as an SUV, but when driving on bad roads, fuel consumption always increases.
Step 5
Monitor the technical condition of the vehicle. Old spark plugs add 5% to fuel consumption, old air filter 10%. Tires must be appropriate for the season and inflated to normal. By the way, the asphalt tread pattern is noticeably more economical than the off-road one.

Malfunctions in the Patriot's power supply system can increase fuel consumption by 50%. Incorrect wheel alignment angles - 10-15%. Sticking brakes - 5-15%. Every 50 kg of extra weight in the trunk increases fuel consumption by 4-6%. Filling a car with low-quality gasoline reduces fuel efficiency by another 10-15%.
Step 7
Develop an economical driving style. It should exclude frequent and intense overclocking. Brake the engine more often and coast less often. The peculiarities of the device of modern motors are that when braking by the engine, fuel consumption is close to zero, but at idle speed is much higher. If possible, avoid traffic jams, sections of the road with a large number of intersections and traffic lights.
Step 8
Never rely on the manufacturer's published fuel consumption data. To obtain these values, a standardized test methodology was used that has little to do with real traffic on the roads and individual driving styles.
