The bumper is an important part of the car, as it is designed to protect the headlights and body during light impacts, such as unsuccessful parking or driving into a garage. Occasionally, however, as a result of an impact, a large crack may appear on the plastic bumper, for example. If this happens, do not get upset and immediately throw away the damaged part. You can still try to save her.
Necessary
- - flat and Phillips screwdriver;
- - fine-grained stainless steel mesh;
- - masking tape;
- - soldering iron 75 watts (more possible)
Instructions
Step 1
The first thing you will need to do is remove the bumper from the car. This work is painstaking and long. Using a flat screwdriver, remove the 3 pistons that are located under the bumper and 2 pistons on each side that attach it to the wheel arch liners. Also remove the retaining bolts holding the bumper to the body. Next, using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the 2 screws that secure the rear lights to the body. Pull out the taillight very carefully and disconnect the harness block from the taillight.
Step 2
In the holes where the lights were, unscrew one bolt with which the bumper is attached to the body, unscrew the pins from the piston, and then remove it. Using a flat screwdriver, pry and remove the 4 clips that secure the trunk lining and remove. Remove the nuts holding the bumper reinforcement. Remove the bolts securing the bumper to the body and, calling someone for help, remove the bumper.
Step 3
Now deal with the damage, unscrew the amplifier and clean the inner surface of the bumper from dirt. Take a masking tape and pull off the crack from the outside, pressing the bumper in this place as tightly as possible. Cut the prepared mesh into small pieces 10x60 mm. After that, attach the first piece and heat it up with a soldering iron, then the next, etc. Wait for all the pieces to cool and harden. Touch up the outside of the bumper slightly if necessary.
Step 4
When all the work on repairing the bumper is completed, you can start attaching it to the car in the reverse order of removal.
