Chevrolet Niva is a serial Russian off-road vehicle with four-wheel drive. The car enjoys a well-deserved popularity among motorists and became the best-selling SUV in 2008. However, the disadvantage of the Chevrolet Niva design is that it does not allow to install the winch on the machine directly, without resorting to modifications and additional devices.
Necessary
- - an installation kit for attaching an electric winch;
- - rectangular profile 25x50 mm;
- - rolled steel with a thickness of 4 mm;
- - steel tube with an inner diameter of 12 mm;
- - four M10 bolts.
Instructions
Step 1
Use a special bracket to install the winch on the vehicle. The simplest is the design known as the Come-Up 6000, made of 8mm steel plate.
Step 2
Attach a platform to the edges of the side members and secure with three bolts. The disadvantage of the constructive solution is the inconvenience of tightening the bolts and the lack of the required rigidity of the connection.
Step 3
Use the device offered by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Repair Plant to mount the winch, which is called the Chevy-Niva bracket among motorists. It is a simplified copy of the electric winch mounting kit supplied with the Chevrolet Niva Trophy. Install the device in accordance with the operating instructions for the device.
Step 4
Upgrade the fixture offered by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Repair Plant. To do this, in the place where the device is attached to the spar, drill an additional hole through which the fasteners will be carried out.
Step 5
Make through holes in the bracket profile, insert the bolts and weld the exit and entry points of the fasteners from the profile. To give the structure additional rigidity to the "horns" of the bracket, weld the kerchiefs.
Step 6
Attach the prepared profiles with four bolts. When assembled, the side members must lie exactly on the profiles. The design is asymmetrical as there is a towing eyelet on the right side member.
Step 7
Before installing the winch attachment, open both ends of the side members and drill out the weld spots. There are no fundamental differences in the process of installing the factory fixture and the unit you have upgraded.
