Dismantling of injectors is an operation that many motorists perform on their own, without asking for help from specialists from a car service. Most often, the need to remove injectors arises when their operation seems unsatisfactory - for the purpose of checking and, if necessary, subsequent replacement. Having studied the instructions and following all its instructions, even a person who is engaged in car repairs for the first time can remove the injectors.
- In order to remove and check the injectors, you will need a pair of handy screwdrivers (one of them should be short and the other long) - with their help you will be able to remove the various clips with which the injectors are attached. If you plan to reattach the clips later, you will need to use small round nose pliers or long tweezers.
- First, you need to disconnect the idle speed regulator (it looks like a small barrel with a connector and two pipes) from each of the pipes. The connector must be removed and set aside; along the way, you can clean it. In addition, you will also have to disconnect the thin vent pipe for the crankcase suction, otherwise it may interfere with your work. It is easy to find - it connects the valve cover to the throttle body.
- Carefully remove the clips that secure the injector control bus - it is a black bar fixed directly above the injectors and equipped with wires and connectors on both sides. By removing the clips, you can remove the splint.
- Now you need to remove the clips that secure the injectors to the fuel rail. The fuel rail itself must also be dismantled (it must be removed very carefully, alternately lifting its ends). Be prepared for the fact that at the time of dismantling, gasoline will flow from the fuel rail. Therefore, all work must be carried out with a cooled engine, smoking during operation is strictly prohibited - the consequences can be most dire.
- After all of the above manipulations have been performed, you will gain access to the nozzles and can remove them by moving the hoses and wires aside. Sometimes, in order to pull the injectors out of the engine, you have to make a serious physical effort. Be careful not to lose the rubber sealing rings that are on the injectors on both sides when removing the injectors.
