The simplicity and reliability of a diesel engine allow its operation for quite a long time without disturbing the owner with a violation of the adjustments in the fuel equipment, which consists of: a low pressure booster pump, a high pressure fuel pump and injectors. The last components of the fuel injection system are the weakest link in this chain. And it is not surprising, because it is the nozzles that bear the greatest load during the operation of the motor.

Necessary

  • - electronic scanner,
  • - stand for checking and adjusting fuel equipment.

Instructions

Step 1

Diesel engines of the old production were equipped with a high pressure fuel pump (TNVD), in which the number of sections directly depended on the number of cylinders in the engine. Each section of the high pressure fuel pump provided fuel for a specific cylinder.

Step 2

Thanks to the introduction of electronic control of the injection system, new engines (CDI) are equipped with motor injectors, in which the opening of the atomizer occurs at the command of the processor. Thus, the craftsmen no longer needed to set the ignition timing, and the engine became much easier to maintain.

Step 3

Signs of irregularities in the fuel supply system are the appearance of black smoke in the exhaust gases. Increased smoke becomes the result of incomplete combustion of the fuel mixture supplied to the cylinder by the nozzle.

Step 4

In no case should it be delayed with the repair after the first such signs appear. Therefore, in the shortest possible time by car, you must visit the auto center and undergo diagnostics. During the scan, the service engineer will identify the problem with a tester.

Step 5

If a failure occurs in the electrical part of the motor-injector, then its stepper motor changes. But in cases where electronic components function normally and without failures, all injectors are dismantled from the engine and delivered to a fuel equipment repair specialist who will check their mechanical part at the stand and, if faulty nozzles are identified, replace them.

Step 6

From now on, the motorist needs to timely replace the fuel and air filters, and his car will be able to cover more than one hundred thousand kilometers without repair.
