Pouring gasoline into the tank is a common process and does not require any special skill. But there are times when it is necessary to drain all the gasoline, for example, to clean the tank or replace the gasoline. Many motorists have difficulties here. Let's look at several ways to drain gasoline.
Instructions
Step 1
Drain gasoline with a hose. This is a fairly common and easy way. To do this, you must have a hose and a container where gasoline will be drained. Open the gas tank, unscrew its cap. Now lower the hose into the tank. Lower the other end into the container. It is sometimes necessary to blow out air to create pressure. To do this, inhale some air through the hose. Gasoline will flow.
Step 2
The previous method only works on cars that do not have a grid on the gas tank. In addition, this method is long and unsafe for health, since you have to inhale gasoline vapors. An alternative option involves opening the lid, which is located at the bottom of the gas tank. This is not easy to do. You need to get close to the bottom of the tank and open the lid. Then drain the gasoline.
Step 3
You can also drain gas from the other side of the vehicle. To do this, open the hood and disconnect the hose, which is located further than the fuel pump and ends with a filter. You can simply remove the filter. Now lower the hose into the container. Get into the car and turn the ignition. This will create pressure that will push the gasoline through the hose. This operation must be done several times until there is little gasoline left. It is not recommended to completely drain gasoline in this way.
