The more expensive gasoline becomes, the more people who want to steal it directly from the gas tank of an unattended car. However, there are many ways to protect your property from intruders.
Instructions
Step 1
Most often, gasoline is drained from domestic cars, since most modern foreign cars have a complex gas tank structure, which simply does not allow you to put a hose in there and pump out gasoline. Basically, VAZ classics and Gazelles become victims of thieves: their gas tanks seem to be specially designed for pumping gasoline with a hose.
Step 2
For those who want to know how to protect a gas tank from thieves, there are many ways invented. The simplest is a lid with a lock, which closes the gas tank instead of the usual cover. Finding such a cover for a domestic car will not be a problem - they are sold in almost all auto parts stores. There are 2 types of such covers: with a key and a combination lock. In the first case, the lid has a lock cylinder, which is opened with a special key. In the second, on the cover there are 2 rows of numbers, from which you need to add a digital code. However, this method of protecting the gas tank also has its drawback: with a strong desire and sufficient physical strength, an attacker can simply rip out the lid.
Step 3
If your car has an alarm and gasoline is stolen from you anyway, you can connect the fuel filler flap to the alarm unit. This simple manipulation can be done on your own, but it is better to go to the specialists, because electric wires and gasoline are not the safest neighborhoods. But then you don't have to worry: as soon as someone opens the hatch without your knowledge, the alarm will go off.
Step 4
Another way to protect the gas tank is to simply weld it on. To do this, you will have to make a new hole in the gas tank - in the trunk. In this case, in order to drain the gasoline, you will have to open the trunk, which the thieves are unlikely to do. At the same time, every time you pour gasoline at a gas station, you also have to open the trunk, which is not very convenient.
Step 5
In general, gasoline is usually stolen from cars left unattended in the dark. If you do not want your car to be touched, put it in the garage or in a guarded parking lot. If this is not possible, park the car in the most illuminated place. It's good if this place will fall into the lens of a CCTV camera. Do not leave the car for a long time where you cannot see it from the window.
Step 6
If you still have gasoline drained, and you do not want to get away with it, you have every right to contact the police. The main thing is to call law enforcement officers as quickly as possible and not touch anything. It might be possible to find the criminals by fingerprints. Even if the thieves are not found, they will probably find out about the arrival of the police and are unlikely to want to touch your car another time.
