Periodic checking of the oil level in the engine and transmission is a mandatory rule of any prudent car owner, which he has raised to the rank of a habit. Indeed, preventing an engine or gearbox malfunction, which can be caused by an insufficient amount of oil, is much easier than going to a car service and paying a decent amount of money for repairs.
It is necessary
- - a piece of clean, dry cloth or rags;
- - engine oil (if necessary);
- - transmission oil (if necessary).
Instructions
Step 1
Before checking the engine oil level, place your vehicle on a level surface, turn off the engine and wait at least 3 minutes for the oil to drain into the engine sump. If the engine was not running before the check, you can check the oil immediately.
Step 2
Open the hood and remove the dipstick. Wipe it with a clean dry cloth (rag) and insert it back into the hole until it stops. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level with it. It should not be below the “mini” mark and above the “maxi” mark. If necessary, add oil through the engine filler neck, wait at least three minutes for fresh oil to drain into the engine sump and re-check the oil level.
Step 3
To check the oil level in the transmission of your Renault Logan, place the vehicle on a level surface. If you have driven the car before checking, allow the transmission to cool.
Step 4
Open the hood of your car. For convenience, remove the oxygen concentration sensor wires from the connector, as they interfere with access to the transmission check hole plug.
Step 5
Clean the transmission housing near the drain hole with a dry, clean cloth or rag. Unscrew the inspection plug counterclockwise with your fingers.
Step 6
Insert your finger into the inspection hole. The oil level should be at the bottom edge of the hole. If there is not enough oil in the gearbox, use a funnel with a hose or a special syringe (a medical one is also suitable) and fill in the oil until it starts to flow out of the control hole.
Step 7
Take a piece of cloth or rags and wipe off any oil drips from the transmission housing. Tighten the inspection plug.
