The engine oil level should be checked regularly, at least once a week, so as not to spend money on expensive repairs later. The correct selection of the type and grade of oil is the key to smooth engine operation.
It is necessary
Dipstick, engine oil, watering can, napkin
Instructions
Step 1
Check the oil level only before starting the engine. Do not check the oil while the engine is running (danger to life!) And after the engine has been turned off. In the first case, you can get a stream of boiling oil in your face, in the second, boiling oil will not show the true level in the engine. Check the oil level on level ground.
Step 2
We find a dipstick near the engine. Outside, it most often looks like a plastic handle, at the same time - it looks like a flattened knitting needle. Carefully remove it, wipe it with a napkin and put it back into the dipstick hole. This is necessary in order for the readings to be "clean", without taking into account the tilt of the car. Take it out again and look at the marks - notches: maximum (upper, MAX), middle (MID) and minimum (lower, LOW). If the notches are covered with oil at the "MAX" or "MID" level, everything is in order. If the level is minimal, add oil.
Step 3
Topping up with oil is better than the type that was originally filled: mineral, semi-synthetic or synthetic: "mineral", "semisintetic" and "sintetic", and even better - the same brand. Oils of the same type, but different brands should not be mixed: the engine may not withstand the mixture of oils.
Open the plug on the engine cover (it has an image that looks like a watering can), insert the watering can and carefully, trying not to drip oil onto the engine, add oil. 1-1.5 liters will be enough. Close the cork carefully and tightly. After that, we again check the oil level with a dipstick and make sure that the level is sufficient.
If, nevertheless, drops of oil appear on the engine, wipe it thoroughly with a napkin.
