Some car enthusiasts are faced with the problem of replacing the fuse in the car. There are no special difficulties here, but it is worth paying attention to some of the nuances. First, you need to determine what type of fuse will work with: finger or flag.

The first type is the main and more classic, it is used in AvtoVAZ models. Such a fuse is a ceramic or plastic rod with a thin metal fusible link that is put on top. If a short circuit occurs in the car's wiring, the reason is the rupture of this particular insert.

Such fuses are mounted in a block between a pair of metal legs, one of which is movable, and the other is not. Thus, in order to make a replacement, it is necessary to move one tab and remove the old fuse, replacing it with a new one. Care should be taken not to dangle in the prescribed place.

The main disadvantage of mounting blocks with classic fuses is the fact that over time the legs cease to hold elasticity, and the distance between them increases. It follows that if the newly installed fuse begins to wobble in its place, the gap between the legs should be reduced by pressing the movable tab to the static one.

Unlike finger-type fuses, the fusible link of the flag-type fuses is installed in a plastic case with two outer contacts. These contacts provide a secure fit with the mounting block. The fuse is placed in special holes, as a result of which there is no chance of loosening, but it is also much more difficult to get it than the classic one. Usually, special plastic tweezers are used for this purpose, usually placed in the compartment of the mounting block. With these tweezers, the fuse is picked up and removed by the box-flag.

In the absence of such a device, you can use a compact flat screwdriver by prying the base of the part case, taking special care that the metal part of the screwdriver does not come into contact with the contacts of the block.

As a last resort, you can try to remove the fuse with your fingers, but this is not always possible to do this quickly, since usually such parts are placed very tightly to each other. The installation of this kind of fuses, on the contrary, is quite simple. With a slight movement, it enters the hole of the nest, while being so tight that it does not stagger inside. If a loosening is suddenly detected, then this signals a malfunction of the socket itself. Most likely, the reason is strong overheating due to high oxidation of the contacts. Unfortunately, in this case, one cannot do without the help of car electricians, since it is quite difficult to disassemble the mounting block and check the contacts. There is a risk of exacerbating the situation with self-intervention.

Finally, it is worth noting that when replacing any type of fuse, you should make sure that it is rated for the current. This is necessary to avoid too frequent burn-out or short-circuiting.
