Automotive tachometer instrument during operation gives information about the number of revolutions of the crankshaft. This allows the driver to select the most optimal driving mode so as not to overload the engine. The process of connecting a tachometer to cars of the VAZ family has several features, since the plant produces both injection and carburetor models.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a mechanical cable and connect it to the engine and tachometer. With this method, the device shows the engine speed. Connect the tachometer to the ignition system of the VAZ carburetor car: "+" - to "+" ignition, "mass" - to onboard ground, "-" - to "-" of the ignition coil. With this method, the device converts the pulse frequency into an electromagnetic field. This signal is processed by an electronic device and the value is displayed on the dashboard. The tachometer operation depends on the type of engine. For example, on a four-cylinder, four-stroke engine, two pulses correspond to one crankshaft revolution. They are converted into a signal, the value of which is displayed on the device.
Step 2
Connect the tachometer in the injection engine to the electronic engine management system controller, and not as in the carburetor ones - to the ignition: "ground" - to the onboard ground, "+" - to the "+" ignition, "input1" - to the ECM, "input2" - to the crankshaft position sensor. Thus, the pulses will be read directly from the controller, which receives data from the crankshaft position sensor. Of course, a tachometer is not considered a device without which it is impossible to drive a car, but many car owners use its readings when driving. It is especially useful for beginners who still cannot “by ear” determine the engine speed and, accordingly, get their bearings when shifting the gearbox.
Step 3
Connect and replace the tachometer only in a car service, as this is not an easy task. Do not connect devices that are not intended for this particular model, otherwise the readings will not be correct. If you decide to make a replacement yourself, then before that, consult with specialists so that your actions do not damage the on-board electrical system of the car.
