Instructions

Step 1

And if replacing the front disc brake pads on domestically produced cars does not pose any particular difficulties for any category of car owners, then changing the rear pads on our cars is much more difficult. This procedure requires some professional training, and experience in performing such work, and also takes more time from the repairman, compared to the work associated with replacing the front pads.

Step 2

After setting the car on a level surface, engaging first gear and substituting wheel chocks under the front wheels, the rear of the car is hung out with a jack, followed by placing the specified part of the body on a reliable support.

Step 3

After removing the wheels, unscrew the two guide pins on each brake drum.

Step 4

After that, M8 bolts are alternately screwed into two threaded holes, which will facilitate the dismantling of the brake drum, serving at this stage as a puller.

Step 5

Having dismantled the brake drum, using pliers, the upper and lower springs are removed, tightening the pads.

Step 6

Disconnecting the parking brake drive cable from the rear shoe, the expander bar and both brake shoes are removed.

Step 7

The parking brake drive mechanism expanding lever is dismantled from the rear block, and then it is mounted on a new block.

Step 8

All further actions are performed in reverse order.
