In agricultural work, it is often necessary to use a tractor. This technique is indispensable for plowing large areas and harvesting. Controlling a caterpillar and even a wheeled tractor has its own characteristics and differs significantly from driving a car. But if you are used to driving a car, you can learn to drive a tractor pretty quickly.
Instructions
Step 1
Immediately before driving, replace the hood sides, remove and attach the tool securely. Make sure that there is nothing in the way of starting the engine and that the path for the tractor is clear.
Step 2
Start the tractor engine. Before starting, disengage the clutch and put in a low gear. Move the fuel control lever to full throttle. Engage the clutch quickly but smoothly. Start moving in a straight line.
Step 3
When turning on a tracked tractor, pull back the left or right swing arm. The more you pull the lever, the steeper the turn will be. For a very tight turn, push the lever all the way back and simultaneously apply the brake appropriate to the turn. The wheeled tractor is turned by manipulating the steering wheel in the same way as is usually done when driving a car.
Step 4
Change the driving speed of the tractor if necessary. Disengage the clutch and change the gear to the one corresponding to the selected driving speed. At the same time, try not to allow the vehicle to jerk by making the car move smoothly.
Step 5
When driving the tractor, do not keep your foot on the control pedals unnecessarily and do not pull on the levers. If one of the wheels is slipping, engage the drive wheel differential lock. But this is recommended if only you are moving in a straight line. After passing the problem area, disable the lock.
Step 6
If it becomes necessary to cross traffic routes, cross such a section at a reduced speed. The same applies to rough and rocky roads. Drive very slowly over an earthen rampart, stone, or a log lying in the path. Pass ditches and shallow ditches while steering the tractor at a slight angle to the obstacle line.
Step 7
To stop the vehicle, disengage the clutch, reduce the fuel mixture, disengage and re-engage the clutch. If you need to stop the tractor urgently, immediately after disengaging the clutch, simultaneously engage both brakes.
