Any car owner who has been involved in an accident, after which the previous body has become completely unusable, or for some other reason, can face such a problem as the re-registration of documents for a car in connection with a body replacement. However, the purchase of a new body and its installation instead of the old one needs an appropriate legal registration.

Step 1
Replacement of the body is carried out on the basis of an application by the car owner to the traffic police, where the vehicle is registered, which indicates the nature of the change made to the design of the car. At the same time, it is necessary that this car does not have any prohibitions and restrictions on this, both technical and legal.
Step 2
In case of a positive decision, the traffic police indicate in which cases the registration and issuance of a certificate is carried out, and, if necessary, a technical opinion is obtained with a list of organizations that have permission for this. If such a conclusion is drawn up, then it indicates: a description of the work, recommendations for choosing a production base and work that the car owner can do on his own. If this is required by the great complexity and volume of work, then accompanying technical documentation should be attached to the conclusion. However, if the car, after the changes made, corresponds to the certification of cars of the same brand of the same manufacturer, then an opinion is not required.
Step 3
Contact a specialized organization authorized to carry out body replacement work. After completing these works, its representatives are obliged to provide the car owner with a declaration of the work performed.
Step 4
Provide a car for a technical check at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate or PTO, based on the results of which a diagnostic card is issued, which is then issued to the car owner.
Step 5
To obtain this certificate, present to the traffic police department the vehicle and the package of documents approved by the traffic police for the identification of the vehicle. After reviewing these documents, the traffic police draw up, register and issue an appropriate certificate to the owner of the car or refuse him.
