You can drift on a rear-wheel drive, a front-wheel drive, as well as an all-wheel drive car.

Step 1
Everyone who wants to learn how to drift should remember that frequent driving in a controlled drift not only wears out tires instantly, but also causes frequent breakdowns in the transmission and suspension. Therefore, drifting is recommended for those who do not regret money for tires and car parts. The easiest drifting trick is to use the hand brake. It is well suited for all types of drive, and is generally the only available method for front-wheel drive vehicles. Allows you to learn how to drift even on a low-powered car without locking the differential. All beginners are advised to master this technique fully and only then proceed to study other techniques.
Step 2
Accelerate ahead of the turn. When entering a corner, depress the clutch, engage neutral speed and release the clutch. Press the gas and brake simultaneously with one foot. As soon as the engine and gearbox revs are equal, suddenly shift into low gear and, releasing the clutch, continue to press the gas pedal. By turning the steering wheel in any direction, the car will begin to drift in the direction the wheels are pointing. Without releasing the gas pedal, pull the handbrake sharply and release it after a second. On a rear wheel drive car, squeeze the clutch; on an all wheel drive or front wheel drive, just keep the rpm. To stop drifting, simply release the throttle.

Another drifting technique is using engine power. Designed for powerful rear wheel drive vehicles. It is not necessary to pick up speed before turning. Just turn the steering wheel all the way in the direction of the turn and suddenly depress the gas pedal. If the car has been moving before, it will start cornering in a controlled skid. If you stood, spin in one place.

There are many other drifting techniques. Clutch Drift: While maintaining high engine RPM, press and release the clutch pedal sharply. This will cause the rear drive wheels to skid. Brake Drift: When entering a corner, apply the brake, then simultaneously depress the clutch and pull the handbrake. Dynamic drift: when entering a long turn, suddenly release the gas and throw the car into a skid, which is controlled by the steering wheel and short pressing of the brake pedal. Drift on a straight road: swing the car from one side of the road to the other, skidding the drive wheels. Often used in drift demonstrations.

Powerful rear-wheel drive vehicles with ideal axle weight distribution are used for drifting competitions. The engine is boosted and adapts to high loads and temperature conditions. The rear differential is locked, the final drive ratio is increased. The hand brake is installed hydraulic. The suspension is strengthened, the ground clearance is reduced. The camber of the front wheels is set sharply negative, the maximum angle of rotation of the wheels increases. Slick and semi-slick tires are used as tires.
