When driving around the city turns into a routine, you want new sensations. It will help to change the driving environment in a more aggressive style. It is better to practice this in specially designated places.
In drifting, engine power is more important than speed. In order for the vehicle to turn more actively, a high axle load is required. The higher the load, the stronger the adhesion of the wheels to the road surface. In this case, braking will entail a sharp turn of the machine. When braking, there should be a feeling of full grip. Since the grip of the rear wheels will be minimal, and the centrifugal acceleration in a corner is maximized, a skid will occur.
The easiest way to drift is called E-Brake Drift (or "Pull the handbrake")
How to break the traction of the rear wheels with the road? The simplest thing is to use the hand brake. This is most often done by beginners. It is most convenient to use it to overcome turns and enter a turn at low speed. The wheels at this time should be at right angles to the surface. It is highly desirable that the machine be kept as low as possible.
Release the clutch as soon as it is fully depressed and shifted to neutral speed. Apply the brake with your toes and throttle with the heel of your right foot. Once you have reached a balance between the rotation of the engine and transmission, depress the clutch. The main thing is not to forget to turn on the lower gear and squeeze out the gas.
Turning the steering wheel towards the skid, pull the handbrake. Do not hold it for more than 1 second. If the car is four-wheel drive, keep the revs up. If RWD, squeeze out the clutch. When the rear part is skidding, turn the steering wheel in the direction of travel. To finish drifting, you need to smoothly hold it to continue sliding. In order not to fall into uncontrolled rotation, do not forget to steer. Otherwise, you can fly off the track.
If, after turning the wheels all the way, turn on full throttle, traction will be impaired. This will allow the car to skid. When the rear of the car is brought in more than the intended trajectory, you need to turn the steering wheel sharply in the direction of travel. Then the car will go in the direction of the front wheels.
A more difficult way to drift Dirt Drop Drift ("Skid on the ground")
Having mastered the relatively easy ways, you can move on to more complex ones. Remaining at speed, you need to set the trajectory and pass the next turn successfully. To do this, drive off the track with the rear wheel so that it gets into the mud. The coefficient of adhesion in this case will immediately decrease. Then enter the turn at an average speed. After turning the wheels out, do not reduce the engine speed. With the side closest to the outside turning radius, pull over to the side of the road.
At this point, the grip between the wheel and the road will be broken. It is necessary to maintain the engine speed. Turn the steering wheel in the direction of travel. To avoid uncontrolled rotation, the engine does not decelerate as usual. With a smooth throttle release, complete the cross-slide and straighten the vehicle.
For both cases, it is better to choose hard rubber. One without protectors will fit perfectly. Plus it's cheaper. To give free rein to the rear wheels, it is better to block the rear differential.
