One of the stages of vehicle preventive maintenance is replacing bulbs in headlights and other lighting fixtures. This procedure requires accuracy and adherence to the correct sequence of actions. The procedure for replacing bulbs can be understood using the example of a Daewoo Matiz car.
Necessary
- - new replacement lamps;
- - screwdriver;
- - protective gloves.
Instructions
Step 1
Start by replacing the bulbs in your high and low beam headlights. Access to them, as well as to the side light bulbs, opens from the engine compartment. First, remove the shroud from the rear of the headlight by turning it counterclockwise. Disconnect the connector with electrical wires.
Step 2
Remove the light bulb retaining spring. Now turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it from the headlight. Replace the lamp. In this case, never touch the glass bulb of the lamp, especially the halogen bulb, with your fingers. If, through negligence, you did this, rinse the light bulb with an alcohol solution.
Step 3
Insert the bulb holder into the socket where the headlamp is mounted and lock it by turning it to the right as far as it will go. Replace the retaining spring and connector with electrical wires. Check the correct installation and functionality of the headlight with a new lamp. It remains to attach the shroud to the back of the headlight.
Step 4
Repeat all described operations with the second headlamp if necessary. The sequence of actions for replacing bulbs in high beam headlights will be similar to those described above. Some versions of the Daewoo Matiz are equipped with high beam headlights with halogen bulbs, which are important to be handled with care.
Step 5
Move on to the high beam headlights. Remove the cover bracket and the headlight cover itself. Squeeze the light bulb mounting spring and move it to the side. Remove the old light bulb. Disconnect the wire connector. Connect a new bulb to the socket and insert it into the headlight. Replace the lamp holding spring. Install the cover and bracket.
Step 6
To replace the bulbs serving the side lights, remove the shroud from the rear of the headlamp and remove the bulb holder located below the low and high beam bulb holder. Replace the bulb, then insert the holder into the socket. Make sure the chuck is securely fastened. Check the operation of the device before replacing the cover.
