Rubber cushions, which are engine mounts in the engine compartment of a car, require a minimum of attention from the owner. But in case of damage to the integrity of the pillows, they must be replaced as soon as possible. Otherwise, deformations of the suspension and body parts cannot be avoided.

Necessary

  • - jack,
  • - wooden support.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to check the technical condition of the specified engine mounting parts, the car, on which the crankcase protection has been previously dismantled, is installed on a level surface.

Step 2

Then, lifting any front wheel of the machine on a jack, a wooden support in the form of a small piece of log is installed in the center of the engine sump. Then the car is lowered and the jack is removed.

Step 3

Having slightly suspended the engine, visual inspection reveals: the presence of cracks in the pillows, places of rubber hardening, as well as the presence of delamination of metal parts from the rubber base.

Step 4

As practice has shown, most of the engine mountings have a rupture of the elastic component in the middle part.

Step 5

Having carried out a visual inspection, and without finding the indicated shortcomings, a check is made for the backlash of fastening the engine mounts to the body or the front beam of the car.

Step 6

To assess the state of reliability of the supports, the engine is deflected in different directions using a mount. In cases where an unacceptable backlash is detected in the joints of the pillows with the body, a previously installed wooden post is removed from the engine sump, after which the engine mounts are tightened with a 17 mm wrench.
