4 parameters are associated with the removal of glass from the rear door: the window lifter lowers and raises the glass; limiting glass stoppers during its downward and upward movement; adjustments provide the angle of inclination of the glass; rear and front grooves that guide the glass as it moves up and down.
Instructions
Step 1
Large pickup trucks and early-model cars may have pivoting vents, consisting of two parts: a pivot mechanism and a support frame. The swivel mechanism turns the window itself outward and inward, the support frame secures the glass of the window. To remove the glass, first remove the panel to access the center of the inner door panel (if any).
Step 2
Your model may only have an access hole. After that, remove the lower and upper stoppers, which are fixed with bolts. Then try to loosen and remove the rear and front rails (i.e. the grooves). The position of the front glass guide channel is secured with two bolts. Removing these two grooves is quite difficult until you remove the glass itself. In this case, loosen the gutter bolts.
Step 3
Next, lower the glass until you see the power window through the access hole. Carefully detach the power window from the lower glass frame. There are screws at both ends of the groove. Unscrew them to remove the power window parts.
Step 4
Some FORD vehicles have a horseshoe clip on a hairpin. First remove the clip and take the pin out of the frame. It is possible to have two clamps on the front and rear side of the glass.
Step 5
It is convenient to work together with an assistant, since one worker must hold the glass, while the other will remove the window lifter mechanism.
Step 6
The access hole is at a minimum. At the rear of the body, pull out the window regulator through the hole at the bottom of the rear inner panel.
Step 7
Some cars have distinctive features. A waterproof seal holds the chrome trim to the top edge of the door. By removing the seal, you will remove the chrome and other parts.
Step 8
You can pull the glass out through the top of the door by slowly pulling up and out.
The glass should slide out without effort. If the glass sticks, press it down and repeat all over again. Be careful, otherwise, if you pry the glass with a screwdriver, it may crack or break off. When doing this, do not use lateral force. Be patient and, in a way, resourceful. In this case, it is better to use plastic or wooden tools.
Step 9
To remove the door glass on some vehicles, first remove all seals around the glass opening on both sides of the door.
