When meeting with traffic police inspectors, almost every driver experiences a whole range of feelings from negative to neutral. But all our fears and prejudices come from ignorance of our rights and elementary rules of behavior. Any conversation with a representative of the authorities can be conducted politely and within the framework of the law. Then the number of unpleasant episodes will noticeably decrease.
Instructions
Step 1
The inspector who stops the vehicle must be dressed in uniform and have a badge with a personal number. He should be the first to greet the driver, give his name and title. After that, he may ask to present documents and name the purpose of the check. If you are stopped to check documents at a stationary checkpoint, you may be asked to enter the checkpoint for a more thorough check of documents. The inspector may also require you to open the trunk or hood. If you can open them without leaving your car, do so. You can leave the car only at the additional request of the inspector.
Step 2
If you are stopped for any wrongdoing, you have the right to demand reasonable evidence. If, for example, you exceeded the speed, you should be shown the radar data. If you have driven through a red light or crossed a solid lane, this can also be confirmed by CCTV footage or testimony. In this case, the traffic police inspector can act as witnesses.
Step 3
If you are stopped by an inspector, you do not need to immediately panic or behave defiantly. Please comply with legal requirements for submission of documents. Don't forget to say hello back. If you suddenly do not hear how the inspector introduced himself, you can ask him to repeat. But all requests must be as correct and polite as possible. Often a misunderstanding of both parties begins with the inappropriate behavior of one of them. Aggressive or rude behavior towards an inspector who is simply doing his job can turn into a global check of all documents and identify the reasons for bringing you to an administrative fine.
Step 4
If you are going to be fined, ask for what article and for what amount. Be sure to carry with you a set of traffic rules and a table of fines. Do not hesitate to find this offense in the Law in the presence of the inspector. If it is true, you can sign the protocol. If you do not agree with the wording, you have the right not to write anything and submit a petition to the traffic police department to the analysis group.
Step 5
In any case, friendly communication with the inspector guarantees understanding from all sides. If you manage to win over the inspector, you can even leave without a fine - we are all human. You should not wait for a catch from the first minute, or shake with fear, as happens with beginners. The inspector is just doing his job. And if you do not want to communicate with him, then do not violate the Traffic Rules.
