Instructions

Step 1

Weld the boot lid after removing it. To do this, ask the presence of two assistants who will support the lid on both sides while you unscrew the lock nuts. After you have removed the cover, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the bezel.

Step 2

Most often, it is necessary to cook shockproof plates, which first of all become unusable after road accidents.

Step 3

Prepare everything you need to weld. You will need a carbon dioxide semiautomatic device, welding wire, degreaser, welder's suit.

Step 4

A high-quality and inconspicuous seam can only be made using a carbon dioxide semiautomatic device. AC electrodes can be used on thick iron to weld rough seams. There is no such iron and seams on the trunk lid.

Step 5

Use carbon dioxide to weld iron. For aluminum, stainless steel, brass - argon. The use of argon arises only if you are going to weld reinforcing shockproof plates from these metals.

Step 6

Remove paint completely with a sander and emery cloth before welding the boot lid. First use skin number 1, then zero.

Step 7

Degrease the boot lid with a special product that you can buy from a car dealership.

Step 8

Insert a wire with copper or shielding flux into the semiautomatic device, set the polarity. If you use flux cored wire, then plus - on the clamp, minus - on the torch, set the feed rate, screw on the tip, connect the machine to the network.

Step 9

Measure the impact plates, cut them out of metal or stainless steel, degrease them. Weld along the straightened old plates, first along the entire perimeter, then along the width.

Step 10

If there is a need to boil other places, work very carefully so that the lid does not twist.

Step 11

After completing the work, prepare the surface for painting. One day after painting, screw on the decorative panel and replace the cover.
