If there is a need to weld the car body, then this work can be entrusted to professionals from the car service, since welding requires not only extensive experience, but also the necessary equipment, both for welding and for further painting and painting work. If you have experience and all the equipment, you can independently carry out any welding work.

Necessary

  • - carbon dioxide semiautomatic device;
  • - degreaser;
  • - welding wire;
  • - welder's suit.

Instructions

Step 1

For high-quality welding, use a carbon dioxide semiautomatic device. The use of an alternating current apparatus with electrodes is possible only for rough welding with a thick seam on a thick iron, and there is no such iron on the body, except that the spars can be welded with a variable or the thresholds of the car can be strengthened, that is, any iron with a thickness of more than 10 mm.

Step 2

You will be able to weld with a carbon dioxide semiautomatic device even if you do not have vast experience as a welder. If you use argon instead of carbon dioxide, you can weld non-ferrous metals such as brass, aluminum and stainless steel.

Step 3

Before carrying out welding work, completely remove the paint from the body, degrease all welding places with a special degreaser designed for processing the body before painting. You can buy it at any car store. All removable parts, such as doors, are cooked by removing them from the car.

Step 4

If you will weld overhead structures to strengthen sills, side members or any part of the body, then first measure all the necessary body parts that you are going to reinforce, cut out the iron of the desired size, degrease all overhead parts.

Step 5

Load the welding wire into the semiautomatic device. Use wire with copper or, in extreme cases, self-shielded or flux cored with a shielding flux. Set the required current polarity, when using flux cored wire - minus on the torch, plus on the clamp. Connect the device to the mains. Set the desired feed rate, fix the desired tip, screw it tight with pliers, connect carbon dioxide and start cooking.

Step 6

If you are welding reinforcing plates, then weld first along the entire perimeter of the sides and only then weld the width of the plates.

Step 7

When welding without reinforcement plates, work very carefully so that the seam is as smooth and invisible as possible.

Step 8

After welding, sand all seams, prime and paint.
