Unfortunately, not a single driver is immune from minor troubles on the road, as a result of which cracks may appear on the bumper of the car. This spoils not only the appearance of the car, but also the mood of its owner. To solve this problem, it is not at all necessary to contact a car service; you can repair a cracked bumper yourself.
Necessary
- - detergent;
- - car or construction hair dryer;
- - sandpaper;
- - a piece of plastic;
- - metal staples;
- - soldering iron;
- - polyester putty;
- - primer for plastic;
- - dye;
- - fine-grained mesh;
- - masking tape;
- - liquid plastic;
- - drill;
- - masking fiberglass tape;
- - adhesive mass;
- - thickener
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the damaged bumper from the vehicle before starting repairs. Rinse it thoroughly to remove dirt with a stream of water and detergent and let it dry. Prepare a car or building hair dryer and make a special nozzle for it with a small 5 mm hole. Use coarse sandpaper or a knife to make a groove in the bumper for better welding.
Step 2
Take a piece of plastic and, while warming it up with a hairdryer, begin to seal the crack, first from one side, and then from the other side. For greater reliability, you can fasten the damaged area with metal staples. Heat the bracket with a soldering iron and gently melt it into the bumper, bending the ends from the inside.
Step 3
Clean the outside of the bumper, putty with polyester filler and prime with a special plastic primer. At the end of the repair, using a spray gun or spray gun, apply paint to the bumper (no more than 3 layers).
Step 4
A cracked bumper can be repaired with a fine mesh mesh. Cut it into small pieces about 10x50 mm in size. Take masking tape and secure the damaged area from the outside with it, pressing the crack as tightly as possible. Heat the first piece of mesh and gently solder it into the bumper, then the second one, and so on along the entire crack. Wait until everything has cooled down and, if necessary, tint the sealed area a little.
Step 5
Another way is to use liquid plastic. Purchase liquid plastic that best matches the type of bumper plastic. Sand the crack and make a small V-groove using a disc and a drill. Take some fiberglass masking tape and seal the front of the crack with it.
Step 6
Then, in a shallow container, mix the thickener and adhesive and apply this mixture to the tape. When everything is dry, carefully remove the tape, clean the damaged area and apply liquid plastic to it. When it hardens, sand the surface and move on to painting.
