Shock absorbers in a car play an important role. This is an increase in ride comfort, a decrease in body shaking. Due to the shock absorbers, vibrations are damped, and without them it would be simply impossible to drive, since in this case there would be a constant buildup of the car body. Defective shock absorbers can pose a threat to the life of the driver - this is an extended braking distance, instability of the car. For this reason, regardless of cost, shock absorbers should be replaced in a timely manner.
Necessary
- - spanners;
- - 2 jacks (you can use "frog" and "trapeze");
- - screwdriver;
- - balloon wrench;
- - recoil shoes;
- - puller for suspension springs.
Instructions
Step 1
Before replacing the rear shock, remove the protective cap for the upper C-pillar mount. You can find it in the luggage compartment. Unscrew the nut at the upper mounting of the strut, remembering to keep the shock absorber rod from scrolling, and then remove the support washer with the upper cushion. Then remove the wheel.
Step 2
Unscrew the nut from the lower shock absorber mount and remove the bolt. After that, lower the shock absorber down to remove the lower cushion with a washer and a bushing from its rod through the spring coils. Press down on the shock absorber rod, then remove the rear spring as well as the boot, cover and compression buffer.
Step 3
Remove the rear shock absorber from the wheel well. Remove the insulating pad located on the upper spring seat of the rear suspension. To remove the travel compression buffer from the shock absorber, remove the boot of its rear strut from the suspension spring.
Step 4
Replace the defective shock absorber lower mounting bushing, as well as the rear shock absorber cushions if they are torn or have lost their original elasticity. Also pay attention to the boot of the C-pillar. If it is torn, replace it. When replacing the shock absorber strut boot, remove the cover from it. If damage is found on the compression travel buffer, replace it with a new one.
Step 5
If the rear spring has cracks or deformation of the spring coils, it must also be replaced. Assemble the rear suspension strut in the reverse order. When installing the cover on the casing, do not forget to thread the casing edge onto its flange.
Step 6
Fix the insulating gasket so that the end of the spring rests against the protrusion of the gasket. To prevent the gasket from slipping off when installing the spring, secure it with electrical tape.
Step 7
Fix the rear suspension strut and put the boot with the cover on it. Now gently pull out the damper rod and install it on the bottom cushion with washer and spacer sleeve.
Step 8
Place the rear spring on the rear post so that the beginning of the first coil of the spring can fall into the under-stamping of the lower cup. To install the C-pillar, the rear suspension spring must be compressed. To do this, place a jack under the beam, and gradually lifting the beam, squeeze the spring, and then insert the shock absorber rod into the hole in the body arch.
Step 9
Install the upper cushion and washer on the shock absorber rod and tighten the nut of the upper mounting of the rear strut. At the same time, use the second key to keep the rear shock absorber rod from turning. Now tighten the bottom and top shock absorber-to-beam nuts. Re-tighten these connections after 100 kilometers of vehicle run.
