A defective shock absorber is not able to damp the amplitude of vibration of the car body while driving on roads whose coverage is far from perfect. Having fallen into a hole, or jumping on a bump, the car continues to sway for some time and does not immediately acquire stability on the road.

It is necessary

  • - 19 mm spanner,
  • - new shock absorber,
  • - rubber bushings - 4 pcs.

Instructions

Step 1

A seemingly insignificant malfunction at first glance can lead to very sad consequences in the future. Due to the loss of its functional duties, the shock absorber increases the dynamic loads on the chassis of the car, which leads to the destruction of wheel bearings, breakdown of jet and steering rods, tire wear, and also to the failure of individual suspension parts.

Step 2

And the car body itself, which is load-bearing by design features, begins to experience excessive overloads, which also reduces its operational mileage. In addition, all of the above factors significantly reduce driving safety, and the prospect of getting into an accident can hardly deceive anyone.

Step 3

Therefore, if while driving, your car, bouncing on a bump, continues to go - swinging, then it is very likely that the shock absorber of your car's suspension has become unusable and requires replacement. As a rule, it is the rear suspension shock absorbers that fail most often, especially on cars of the "classic" VAZ lineup.

Step 4

To change the specified part for a new part, it is enough to drive the machine onto the lift or into the inspection pit.

Step 5

Then, with a 19 mm wrench, the nuts of the upper and lower shock absorber mounts are unscrewed.

Step 6

Having removed the bolt from the lower bracket, the old damaged shock absorber is removed from the upper mount and sent to scrap metal, and a new one is installed in its place.

Step 7

That's basically it. After spending half an hour of your time, you will be able to continue the further operation of your own car without fear of the consequences provoked by a faulty shock absorber.
