A shock absorber is an important part of a car. Like any mechanism, it wears out over time, requires repair or replacement. If oil appears on its outer surface, there is no compression resistance, and debris constantly accumulates at the point of entry of the stem into the body - most likely, the shock absorber needs to be restored. It is quite possible to do this.
Necessary
- - a set to restore the shock absorber or new cartridges;
- - new stock;
- - cleaner for electric motors;
- - oil for filling the shock absorber;
- - Toothbrush.
- - razor or sharp knife.
Instructions
Step 1
Get gaskets and lock washers from the shock rebuild kit. Carefully cut them off the casting with a razor blade or sharp knife. Try not to leave burrs, otherwise you will have difficulties in assembly.
Step 2
Remove the shock absorber, remove the springs. Use a toothbrush to clean the outside of the case. Remove the cap. For shock absorbers charging from below, remove the cartridge. Remove the fastener located at the bottom of the stem.
Step 3
Remove the retaining clip, remove the silicone rings. Clean the inside of the housing with motor cleaner. Remove residual oil and all kinds of debris. Dry. Lubricate new silicone rings to prevent leaks. Assemble the shock absorber.
Step 4
Associated dampers are assembled in the following order: small gasket, silicone ring, large gasket, silicone ring again, and small gasket holding the clip. For Losi shocks: the cartridge body, then the silicone ring and center gasket, again the silicone ring, then the cartridge cover.
Step 5
Apply some oil to the stem threads and insert it into the shock body or cartridge. If it does not fit well through the seal, do not try to push it through. You can damage the silicone rings. Reinstall all parts. Attach the mount to the bottom of the stem.
Step 6
Fill the damper body with oil up to the start of the threads. Move the plunger to remove air bubbles, then add oil. Squeeze the shock absorber.
Step 7
Insert the elastic membrane into the cap of the shock absorber. To do this, place one side of it on the edge of the case so that it is at a certain angle. Press it into the body with your finger. This will drain excess oil.
Step 8
In order to bleed the shock absorber, set it vertically, fill it until a small oil dome appears above the edge of the housing. Move the stem up and down. Air bubbles will begin to emerge from under the piston. Tighten the cap approximately ¾ of the thread length. Press in the stem so that the shock mount touches the bottom of the shock body. Screw the cap back on until the end. Do not use tools so as not to overtighten it. Extend and retract the stem a few more times. Finally assemble the damper according to the instructions.
