The trunk of the car is roomy and very convenient for transporting things. However, in some cases, its locking device fails, so you have to dismantle it for repair or replacement. You can disassemble the trunk lock on your own, without the help of qualified specialists.
Necessary
- - trunk key;
- - screwdriver;
- - box and socket wrenches;
- - pliers;
- - insulating tape.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the hood of the car and disconnect the battery. This must be done to ensure safety, otherwise electric shock is not excluded when dismantling the trunk lock.
Step 2
Open the trunk of the car and unscrew the elements securing the upholstery. Detach the fasteners together with the upholstery and set aside.
Step 3
Remove the lamp holder, which is used to illuminate the license plate. Remove from the lamp holder first. Using a screwdriver, squeeze the latch holding the block with the wires located on it. Disconnect the connector from the boot lid locking device.
Step 4
Insert a screwdriver into the bracket slot and remove the lock cover drive cable. Turn the cable end into the slots and disconnect the cable from the lock.
Step 5
Disengage the cable holders and pull it out of the cover reinforcement. Use the pliers to squeeze the ends of the holder.
Step 6
Pull the holder out of the slot, and then feed the wire harness through the hole. Remove the mounting bolts securing the lock to the trunk lid. Detach the lock.
Step 7
To remove the latch latch, remove the rear luggage compartment trim and remove the bolts securing the latch. Remove the latch of the lock.
Step 8
Examine the details of the lock and latch. Eliminate faults by replacing deformed elements. Before installing a new lock, remove any dirt from the surfaces to which the device will be mounted.
Step 9
Re-install the repaired or new lock in reverse order. Make sure that all connectors fit into place without skewing or gaps. Pay particular attention to the installation of the cable. When installing, use a flat screwdriver, having previously wrapped its tip with several layers of insulating tape to protect the parts of the lock from deformation.
