There is a trunk in almost every car and, according to the explanatory dictionary of S. I. Ozhegova, is a "container for carrying luggage". Often, the trunk lock fails, which must be changed if possible.
Instructions
Step 1
Have a flathead screwdriver, wrenches and socket wrenches ready. After that, open the hood cover and disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the storage battery to protect yourself from electric shock during work. Open the trunk and turn out the caps that secure the upholstery. Pull them out carefully and remove the upholstery. Make sure not to break the caps, otherwise you will have to buy new ones.
Step 2
Disconnect the lamp holder, which is designed to illuminate the license plate. Remove the lamps from the socket to protect them from damage during work. Wrap the screwdriver with a flight rag or rag, and tighten the latch that secures the wiring block. Carefully remove the connector from the boot lid lock.
Step 3
Using a screwdriver, remove the end of the drive cable for the cover lock from the slot in the bracket. Carefully rotate this tip into the slots and remove the cable from the lock. Disengage the cable holders and remove it from the hole in the cover reinforcement. Take the pliers in your hands and clamp them to the antennae of the holder, which is intended for the wiring harness.
Step 4
Pull the holder out of the hole, and then remove the wire harness through the same hole. Remove the bolts that are required to attach the lock to the trunk lid and disconnect the lock. If it is necessary to remove the latch of the lock, then disconnect the lining of the rear wall of the trunk and unscrew the mounting bolts. Then remove the latch and install a new one.
Step 5
Install in reverse order, making sure that all latches and connectors are in place. Periodically inspect the trunk lock for deformations and cracks, try not to slam the lid hard, which can lead to a quick failure of the lock.
