For the correct choice of candles at VAZ, find the products of a manufacturer that has an impeccable reputation in the world market. Candles of such brands as BOSCH, BRISK, CHAMPION, NGK, if it is not a fake, almost never fail. If there are doubts about the quality of the product, check the spark plug at a special stand and only then install it on the engine.

Instructions

Step 1

When choosing candles for a VAZ, be guided by well-known brands, after making sure that this is not a fake. BOSCH - candles with a central electrode, have a copper core protected by a special chromium-nickel layer. These candles can have one or even more side electrodes. Some brands of candles from this company use platinum.

Step 2

If you need reliable candles at a more modest price, pay attention to the products of the Czech company BRISK. It produces classic plugs, with a nickel alloy electrode, as well as plugs with a high coefficient of thermal conductivity, which allows them to be adapted to any engine.

Step 3

American CHAMPION candles and Japanese-French NGK candles are distinguished by high reliability. The latter are used in the center electrode of iridium, which makes them even more durable than platinum candles.

Step 4

Choose spark plugs with no visible damage or cracks. Before installation, check the size of the gap between the electrodes - it must correspond to the technical documentation. Remove carbon deposits from the spark plug electrodes that may appear when the engine is running on low-quality fuel.

Step 5

To check the quality of the candles, install it in a special pressure chamber (the candle is not designed for operation at atmospheric pressure), create a pressure in it of about 10 kg / cm², apply a voltage of 22 kV to it. Under these conditions, sparking must be continuous. If sparking is intermittent after cleaning carbon deposits, consider the spark plug to be faulty.

Step 6

Leave the candle in the pressure chamber and double its pressure. Then measure the gas leakage within 30 seconds. If it exceeds 5 cm³ per minute, it is not recommended to use a candle.

Step 7

When checking the spark gap, find out its value for this particular VAZ model from the technical documentation. When checking the spark plugs of a VAZ car during maintenance, a voltage of more than 18 kV must not be applied to them.
