The brushes are responsible for the cleanliness of the windshield in rainy and snowy weather. However, in winter, when the temperature gets very low, ordinary brushes begin to freeze in the glass. Therefore, they need to be replaced with frameless ones.
Necessary
New frameless wipers, wrench set, slotted screwdriver
Instructions
Step 1
Find a place where you will be installing frameless wipers. A garage is best suited for this purpose. Clean the windshield and wiper mountings with a high-pressure water jet. Dismantle the old frame wipers. To do this, first remove the brushes. Unscrew the pins and remove the brush body from the mount. now you need to remove the brush bodies. Remove the rubber plugs that cover the bolts. Match the wrench to the size of the bolt and carefully unscrew it. Proceed very carefully, as the bolt is directly connected to the motor that moves the wipers. Don't lose your washers. Without them, it will not be possible to tightly fasten the wipers.
Step 2
Pick up new frameless wipers. To do this, measure the length of the standard ones. Pay particular attention to the size of the brushes. Please note that on some car models the passenger and driver brushes differ slightly in size. Do not buy brushes from an unknown manufacturer. Also pay attention to the mountings. Modern brushes are sold with several attachments at once, which greatly simplifies the selection process. Frameless brushes with electric heating will work flawlessly even in severe frosts. The heater can be connected directly to the power system or to the cigarette lighter. Be sure to keep your receipt after purchase.
Step 3
Try on the mounting of the new wipers. Open the hood. Push the wire from the heated wipers through the mounting hole into the engine compartment. Lay the wire carefully so that it does not touch the operating units. Connect it through the fuse to the button for turning on the heated rear window or side mirrors. Put a rubber boot on the wire at the attachment point to prevent chafing when the wipers are working. Place the base of the new wiper mount on the square pin, after placing a new rubber gasket. Put a washer on top and tighten the bolt with a wrench. Do the same with the second janitor. Lower the brushes onto the glass. Close the hood and check if the wipers are working. If they turn very slowly, loosen the bolt ties slightly.
