The process of regulating the automatic transmission is the adjustment of the smoothness of shifting the low and high gear. This adjustment is achieved by shortening or lengthening the transmission cable length and throttle position.

Instructions

Step 1

Turn on the ignition and look at the dashboard. If the CHEK light is off and shows no faults, open the hood and check the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). Lower the stop screw, raise the flap as far as it will go and release it sharply. In response, you will hear a click, which indicates that the flap has hit the stop. Tighten the stop screw and click the shutter again, try to catch the moment when the shutter stops "biting".

Step 2

Loosen the screws and connect the multimeter to the idle contact (IDL), which is usually the second from the top or bottom of the TPS connector. Insert a thick "N" dipstick between the stop screw and the throttle body. Gently turn the sensor and make sure that when the shutter is opened, the arrow of the device starts to move - this is the beginning of the idle cutoff. Fix the screws.

Step 3

Inspect the engine, if there is an idle speed adjustment bypass screw, just twist it in that direction. If there is no such screw, then the motor has a special regulator, which is located at the bottom of the damper block. To adjust it, tighten the two screws located on it.

Step 4

Adjust the automatic transmission cable. To do this, check whether the cable cover is fully fitted over the metal bulge. The softness of switching is achieved by lengthening the length of the cable, for this you need to unscrew one nut, and, on the contrary, tighten the other. To increase the rigidity, reverse the operation with the nuts, which will decrease the length.

Step 5

Check how the kick-down works. To do this, pick up a speed of about 50 km / h and sharply press the gas pedal all the way. See how the automatic transmission and the car as a whole will behave. With the correct setting, the revolutions will quickly increase, the car will "sit down" and rush forward sharply. Hold the pedal, the transmission itself should shift from low gear to high gear. If you chose the wrong cable length, then the engine will simply pick up speed, and the automatic transmission will be silent.
