Instructions
Step 1
Examine the structure of the material the torpedo is made of. Refer to the technical data sheet. It should indicate what the torpedo is made of. This is necessary in order to choose the right paint. Please consult your dealer. The fact is that some materials, when paint gets on them, begin to oxidize and release toxic substances.
Step 2
Dismantle the torpedo from the car. It is highly discouraged to paint in a car. You can inadvertently stain other interior parts. Also, the seats and upholstery will absorb paint fumes, which are very difficult to erode. To dismantle, remove the steering wheel. Detach all plugs and decorative parts. Find the screws holding the torpedo and unscrew them. Carefully remove the torpedo from all latches. Now disconnect all pads of electronic devices from the back side. Pull the torpedo out through the front passenger door.
Step 3
Remove all buttons from the panel, completely free it from any structures. Wash the surface thoroughly with soapy water. Rinse with clean water. Then let dry. Degrease the surface to be painted using a high concentration of soapy water.
Step 4
Apply a coat of primer. It should be as thin as possible. Make sure that the primer is evenly applied to all areas. let the primer dry. Then degrease again and apply the first coat of paint. This layer will be developing, that is, it will show poorly primed areas. Fix them by applying another coat of primer.
Step 5
Paint the torpedo with a second coat of paint. Watch for an even distribution of paint on the surface of the torpedo. After 10-15 minutes, apply a layer of varnish. Leave the torpedo to dry for a few days. Then polish the surface if there are smudges on it. Install the painted torpedo into the vehicle interior.
