If there is a leak from the master brake cylinder or a decrease in the effectiveness of the brakes, it is urgent to repair it. It is necessary to periodically monitor its technical condition, since the life of the driver and passengers of the vehicle directly depends on this.

Necessary

  • - screwdriver.

Instructions

Step 1

Park the vehicle on a firm, level surface and block the wheels with stops. Using a rubber bulb, take the brake fluid from the brake system reservoir.

Step 2

Loosen the clamps and remove the flexible hoses from the unions of the master brake cylinder (GTZ). Mark their position relative to the GTZ.

Step 3

Take a special 10 brake pipe wrench, which has an enlarged head, unscrew the three brake pipe fittings and take the latter to the side. Use a 13 socket wrench with an extension to unscrew the two nuts securing the GTZ to the brake vacuum booster.

Step 4

Remove the brake master cylinder from the vehicle. Secure it in a vise and disassemble. Turn the GKTs over and unscrew the two set screws that hold the pistons with a 12 wrench. Pull them out together with the sealing washers.

Step 5

Take the knob and socket 22 and unscrew the plug from the GTZ housing. Remove it together with the spring and sealing washer.

Step 6

Remove the cup from the rear brake actuator piston, and then the spring of its o-ring. Remove complete with spacer ring and O-rings.

Step 7

Take a screwdriver and slide the front brake actuator (FRA) piston for later disassembly. Remove the washer and O-ring from the GTZ body.

Step 8

Pull out the return spring of the PPT piston. Then remove the cup and then the compression spring that holds the O-ring.

Step 9

Remove the PPT piston assembly with a spacer ring and O-rings. Take a thin screwdriver and pry out the lock washer. Remove it and pull the fitting together with the gasket out of the GTZ housing.

Step 10

Remove the O-ring from the rear brake actuator (PZT) piston and then the spacer ring. Remove the sealing ring from the piston (PPT), then the spacer, and then the second sealing ring.

Step 11

Inspect the condition of the GTZ body and pistons. Seizures, cracks, etc. defects on working surfaces are not permissible. The rubber protective cap must be free of tears and cracks. Wash the parts with brake fluid and reassemble the GTZ in the reverse order.
