Correct operation of the brake master cylinder is essential for the functioning of the entire braking system of vehicles. Observing the behavior of the car during braking, as well as checking the units in time, can save the driver from big troubles on the road.

Necessary

  • - set of wrenches;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - gloves;
  • - rubber bulb;
  • - assistant for bleeding the brakes after checking the brake master cylinder.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the hood of the car. Locate a barrel of brake fluid and remove the low level sensor. Unscrew and remove the sensor. Open the tank cap and pump out the liquid with a rubber bulb. Pay attention to the fact that the brake fluid itself is highly toxic. You need to put on gloves, prepare a small amount of water. If the brake fluid gets on the paintwork of the car, the paint can peel off. If this happens, you need to immediately wash off the traces of the liquid with water.

Step 2

Take the key "10" and unscrew the brake pipe fasteners. Pull the tubes away from the brake master cylinder.

Step 3

Disconnect the cylinder from the vacuum booster. To do this, use a key or socket head "17". Having disconnected the main brake cylinder and a barrel of brake fluid, proceed to its inspection. Disassemble the cylinder, check its mirror for scratches and other defects. Pay attention to the elasticity of the spring, the cleanliness of the surface of the working piston. Do not allow parts to come into contact with mineral liquids. Inspect the rubber seals. To avoid deformation of rubber parts, rinse and blow them with a jet of compressed air, not exceeding the time set by the manufacturer of 20-25 seconds.

Step 4

If there is a suspicion that the tightness of the structure of the main brake cylinder is broken, use a test stand. While opening and closing the cylinder valves, rotate the flywheel, forcing the pistons to move. Continue rotating and watch the cylinder pressure. As soon as it becomes operational, stop and time it. The working pressure of the cylinder must be maintained for at least 5-7 seconds. In the event that fluid leaks and a rapid drop in pressure are observed, the tightness is broken.
