It is necessary

  • - ruler or tape measure;
  • - crosshead screwdriver;
  • - vernier caliper.

Instructions

Step 1

Turn off the car engine. Press the clutch pedal several times with the engine off. Make sure there are no jams, clicks, squeaks, or other extraneous sounds. Note the gradual return movement of the pedal off the floor. If visual inspection is difficult, depress the pedal with your hand to the floor and hold your hand during the return movement to feel a smooth ride. Pedal jerking when driving off the floor is a sign of a clutch malfunction.

Step 2

Take a tape measure or ruler and measure the distance between the floor of the machine and the outside of the clutch pedal. Depress the clutch pedal as far as it will go and repeat the measurements. If the pedal travel is more than 146 mm, adjustment is required.

Step 3

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the air filter. Pull the tip. Try to tighten the clutch cable as much as possible. Using a vernier caliper, measure the distance between the driver and the fork arm. The recommended distance is 27 mm. If the measurement turns out to be a different figure, adjust the distance using the leash. Unscrew the driver along the thread of the cable end, achieving the recommended value.

Step 4

Turn the leash along the thread of the cable end and achieve the desired value. Press the clutch pedal several times and repeat the measurement with a caliper. Repeat the adjustment process if necessary.

Step 5

Start the engine. If a howling sound is heard from the clutch housing, this indicates a worn clutch release bearing. With the engine running, disconnect the cable from the clutch release drive fork and turn the fork clockwise to disconnect the release bearing from the diaphragm spring. The sound will disappear - the release bearing is faulty.
