To modernize classic VAZ cars, their owners introduce new elements from other models. Often they replace the "native" carburetor with "Solex" from front-wheel drive cars. It provides better acceleration dynamics, uniform acceleration, lower fuel consumption and lower toxicity.
It is necessary
- - key for 13;
- - thick heat-insulating (10-15mm) plastic gasket;
- - paronite gasket on the inlet pipeline;
- - cardboard for the carburetor;
- - a thin hose for antifreeze 80cm;
- - two clamps;
- - plugs for unused branch pipes;
- - a set of adapters and rods for the accelerator drive;
- - check valve;
- - tee;
- - suction cable from 2108.
Instructions
Step 1
Install a contactless ignition system on the car, since the Solex carburetor is set to operate on a lean mixture. To ignite it, you need a powerful discharge from the ignition coil (up to 25 kV). Set the spark plug gap between 0.7-0.8 mm.
Step 2
Check the fuel level in the float chamber before installing. To do this, unscrew the five screws of the carburetor cover with a screwdriver, remove it, turn it over and measure the gap between the gasket and the bottom point of the floats, it should be 1mm. Check the tightness of the needle valve. Replace the cover. Check the throttle and choke starting clearances (1/2, 5 mm respectively). Put the fuel dump on the fuel pump inlet.
Step 3
Install the carburetor. In this case, the engine must be cold. Remove the old Ozone carburetor and the old gasket, put a paronite gasket, then a thick plastic gasket on it, then a cardboard gasket on top and put Solex. Do not use nuts.
Step 4
Place a bracket from a set of adapters and rods under the nuts that are closer to the engine. Install a two-arm lever on it, which is removed from the bracket on the cylinder head cover. Replace the short pedal rod with a long one. Adjust it to fit. Attach the return spring close to the pedal. Replace the choke cable with a cable from a VAZ 2108 car.
Step 5
Connect the throttle body heating. To do this, remove the coolant pipe from the intake manifold and put it, securing it with a clamp, on the carburetor heating pipe. Put on the other end of the pipe a thin hose for antifreeze on the intake manifold. Be sure to do this, because when there is no heating, in damp cool weather frost can freeze on the edge of the damper, which leads to unstable idling. For the distributor, take the vacuum take off from the lower fitting on the right, when viewed along the direction of the car. Connect the crankcase ventilation to the nipple at the bottom of the carburetor, which is directed towards the cab.
