Necessary

  • -petrol;
  • - brush with steel bristles;
  • -20% ammonium acetate solution;
  • -hot water;
  • -cylindrical probe;
  • -key for adjusting the side electrode;
  • -tester.

Instructions

Step 1

Inspect the spark plugs of your car after stopping it, because the appearance of the spark plug changes depending on the mode of operation of the engine. If the spark plugs are covered with carbon deposits and filled with oil, then the cylinders and piston rings may already be worn out, or the oil level in the engine crankcase is too high. If the spark plug is flooded with fuel, the fuel supply may be poorly adjusted.

Step 2

If the plug is dry and black, then there is a possibility that the engine has been running idle for a long time, or the car has been driving for a long time at low speed and with little load. If the cone of the insulator is dry, clean, has a light coating, and traces of melting are visible on it, then early ignition may be to blame.

Step 3

If the side or center electrode is significantly worn out, then the candle should be thrown away. Replace spark plug that is cracked or chipped on the insulator.

Step 4

It is advisable to service spark plugs every 10,000 thousand kilometers. They are cleaned and, if necessary, the gap between the electrodes is adjusted. The best way to clean them is with a steel bristle brush.

Step 5

There is also such a way of servicing candles: they are degreased in gasoline, dried, and then kept in a hot 20% solution of ammonium acetate for half an hour. Then they are cleaned with a brush and thoroughly rinsed with hot water.

Step 6

The spark gap of the spark plugs is checked with a cylindrical probe, for this you can use a piece of wire. The gap is adjusted by bending the side electrode, and this is done with a special key.

Step 7

Special testers will help to most accurately assess the condition of the candles. They create conditions close to the real work of candles.
