Clarifications on the transportation of children in cars and other forms of transport had been awaited for a long time, and finally they were adopted. As promised, the clarifications in the Rules somewhat simplified the situation, but those who constantly transport children in cars should carefully study the changes.
The clarified requirements for the transportation of small passengers define clear criteria that should be guided by when choosing a way to protect children. It is worth knowing that child car seats are used only for those who have not reached a weight of 36 kg and a height of one and a half meters. Constructions for minors who have outgrown these parameters are not produced.
The following changes have been adopted in the traffic rules:
1. Children between the ages of 7 and 11 can be seated in a passenger car in the rear seats by simply fastening the seat belts. But in cases where the child's height is below one and a half meters, it is better to use a chair.
2. Children under the age of seven can only be transported in a seat or on a rigid base - a booster using the belts provided for by the design.
3. A child under the age of seven must not be left alone in a car. The maximum duration of the allowed time is provided - this is 5 minutes, for which you can, for example, walk to the cash register at a gas station and make a payment. At the same time, the driver must be sure that the child sitting in the car will not do anything that could lead to sad consequences. In case of violation, the fine will be 500 rubles, and in large cities it can be more than two thousand. In the event of an initial violation, the traffic police officer may limit himself to a warning.
How children should sit in the backseat of a car
To safely ride behind the back seat of a car without additional devices, the child must be of sufficient height to be able to naturally bend the knees and put the feet on the floor. The seat belt should not go over the abdomen; it should be resting on the hips.
If the child is under seven years old, but meets the parameters prescribed above, the traffic police are unlikely to make claims. The traffic rules do not indicate that it is necessary to show documents confirming the child's age. But most parents have children inscribed in their passports - there is no need to carry a birth certificate with you.
Dos and Don'ts when traveling with a child
Children under 12 years of age must not be seated in the front seat of a passenger car without a seat or booster. Preschool children must not be seated without seats and infant carriers, which must be age and height appropriate and must be made to standards. It is forbidden to carry them in the back seat of a motorcycle.
Children over the age of 12 can ride the motorcycle without restrictions, wearing a seat belt.
If you use a chair that is not suitable for your child's height or weight, you can now get a fine. Adapters FEST have moved into the category of dangerous, but no fine has yet been assigned.
Boosters are still allowed to be used, although in terms of reliability they are noticeably inferior to chairs.
The clarifications made to the Rules should help reduce controversial situations when transporting children in cars. The development of changes is aimed at improving the convenience and safety of minors on the road.
