The hydraulic compensator is an important engine element that is used to compensate for the thermal gap between the camshaft and the valve tappet. And how to replace the hydraulic lifter on a car?
It is necessary
- - valve desiccant for classics;
- - an unnecessary key for unscrewing the candles.
Instructions
Step 1
Unscrew the valve cover first. Then you should unscrew the "sprocket" and the upper belt casing. After that, very slowly and carefully, begin to move the "sprocket" from the camshaft, threading a wire through it and tying it very tightly so as not to displace the belt itself relative to the "sprocket".
Step 2
After that, this "sprocket" must be removed, thereby making it easier to turn the camshaft and "cam". Do not forget that everything should be done carefully so that the "tooth" does not jump over. Next, turn the camshaft so that it stands up with the convex part that presses the rocker up. Experienced car enthusiasts advise, before starting to replace the hydraulic compensator, to make plugs for the drainage hole in the area of the 4th cylinder and close them, but do not forget to remove these plugs after work.
Step 3
Then tighten the bolt to the place where the valve cover was attached in order to fix the desiccant. After that, insert the key, which serves to unscrew the candles, opposite the tightened bolt; it looks like we are putting it on the edge of the car's valve spring washer itself. Then take a piece of hard wire and make a hook out of it, also take a magnet, tweezers and round teeth.
Step 4
After that, press on the desiccant, which on one side you fixed with a bolt, and on the other side press on the key, which also presses on the valve washer. After such actions, it is necessary to push the hook under the part that "sits" on the hydraulic lifter and pull it out. Do not forget that the most difficult thing is to pull out the extreme lifters.
Step 5
It should be assembled in the reverse order, by pressing the dryer and inserting the rocker. As you can see, there is nothing complicated in replacing the hydraulic compensator, but for convenience, you should resort to the help of a friend, since it is inconvenient for one to pull out and press at the same time.
